AFGHANISTAN HUMANITARIAN CRISIS 2021

The people of Afghanistan are facing great uncertainty and fear. On August 16, 2021, following mounting tension and conflict, the Taliban (radical Islamist movement) took power as the government collapsed. Civilian deaths were already on the rise before the latest incident. Now there is concern, particularly for women and children, who are most vulnerable and at risk of having their basic rights and freedoms taken away; and for Christians in the country that have their safety and lives threatened under Taliban rule.

With so much suffering, injustice and trauma, we are working to do what we can, through our local partners, to respond. We are connecting with like-minded groups to support the body of Christ in Afghanistan, both during this immediate and uncertain time, and for those who escape from the country.

Will you help bring hope and protection to the people of Afghanistan?

AFGHAN REFUGEE CRISIS – 2003

(COMPLETED PROJECT – 2003)

We had an incredible opportunity showing the love of God by helping provide for the immediate needs of Afghan refugees with food and blankets and contributes towards rebuilding.

The situation in Afghanistan was already at a critical stage before the events of September 11, 2003. More than two decades of civil war, three years of drought and now aerial bombardment have left the nation devastated and literally millions displaced.

Partner Information: In the face of this human catastrophe we established a unique partnership with an international food relief campaign; Feeding Children International. Through this partnership, we gave the opportunity to connect food resources to those in need in Afghanistan.

Established in 1999 under the leadership of Richard Proudfit, Kids Against Hunger, is an international food relief campaign operating within Feeding Children International (FCI). Kids Against Hunger, in collaboration with a team of scientists from leading food production companies such as Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and Archer Daniels Midland set out to find a viable way to mass feed the world.

BALANCED HIGH NUTRITION MEALS: The team from Kids Against Hunger, Cargill, Pillsbury, General Mills and Archer Daniels Midland successfully developed a food mixture comprised of fortified soybean, essential vitamins & minerals, vegetables, and rice. Our food packet can potentially reverse the starvation process, help restore health, and may improve a child’s mental and physical alertness.

  • Multiple Servings: One packet provides a child with six servings
  • Protein Rich: Each packet contains 52% protein
  • Vitamin Fortified: Each serving contains twenty-one essential vitamins & minerals for a growing body
  • Global Acceptance: Rice, a globally recognized staple is used as filler
  • Simple & Safe to Prepare: Boil packet contents in water for twenty minutes
  • Keeps Well: Unopened packet has a shelf-life of eight years

Positive Benefits: We met a crucial need for the refugees by providing them with much-needed food. Also, we were in the position to be able to make a significant contribution to the nation as it was rebuit after the Taliban rule.

Persons Responsible for the Strategy: Our staff, through its implementation partners, was responsible to ensure that those who were in most need, would receive it. A strong partnership had been created that ensured project integrity and financial accountability.

Each gift made a significant impact on the lives of those who are suffering so much as a result of this tragedy. Your partnership was greatly appreciated.
